Inital Sound Activites
Make a book
![]()
Staple 20 Pages of paper or construction paper or scrapbooking paper and make a dictionary at home
On top of each page write the ABC's one on each page.
Every once in a while when you need something to do:
- break out some of the mail catalogs
- cut out some pictures and put them in your dictionary according to the beginning sound of the picture. Spell the word correctly next to it- Find any of the Wilson Rules. (See Word Activites)
Newspaper Hunt
Get the Sunday Paper after eveyone reads it and grab a marker. Read appropriate headlines and ask your child to circle the "beginning sounds" of words. This will be easy for your child. After getting the hang of that try circling the ending sounds of words. Take a look at the Wilson Rules to see the ending sounds your child has already learned.
How many can you name?
![]()
This is easy to play. Anywhere you want to play this is possible. In the car, waiting in line, in the tub... How many words can you make with the sound... /b/ -ball, bat, basket, blue- use any sound. Try to for the sounds /t/ at the end of a word. This is much harder for you too! Have fun!
