            Give Me Five

When its time to speak with the children I use this poem.  I say the poem and by the end of the poem all students should be listening to me.

1. STOP

2. LOOK

3. LISTEN

4. HAND IN THE AIR

5. THIS SHOW MY TEACHER KNOWS THAT I CARE

Hold up 1 finger as you say each rule.  You'll soon find your students reciting these with you.

                    Five Little Frogs

Five green and speckled frogs
Sitting on a speckled log
Eating some most delicious bugs
Yum Yum
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are four green speckled frogs
Glub, glub

...and so on in descending order

                    Down By The Bay

Down by the Bay, where the watermelons grow,
Back to my home, I dare not go.
For if I do, my mother will say:

Did you ever see a goose kissing a moose
down by the bay. (chorus)

Did you ever see a whale with a polka-dotted tail
down by the bay   (chorus)

Did you ever see a fly, wearing a tie
down by the bay  (chorus)

Did you ever see a bear combing his hair
down by the bay  (chorus)

Did you ever see llamas, eating their pajamas
down by the bay (chor€us)

Did you ever have a time, when you couldn't make a rhyme,
down by the bay
