Using a Projector
Ellis has 2 projectors that are available for staff use. These directions tell how to set one up with one of the school's Acer laptops. Other computers may vary. Click here
Click here to sign out a projector. Notice that there is a list of 8 projector links, and that the projector whose calendar you are looking at is listed at the top of the page.
- Roll the projector card where it is unlikely to be bumped and faces the area you want to project to.
- Plug the cart into a power outlet.
- There are 3 cables on top of the cart.
- Plug the blue monitor cable into the video port on the back of your laptop.
- [For speakers] Plug the green sound cable into the right-most port on the front of your laptop, which has a graphic of headphones next to it.
- [For remote control] Plug the black USB cable into the USB port on the front or right-side of your laptop.
- Turn on the projector by pressing the power button.
If the computer is already on, skip to step 6. - Turn on the computer. Skip to step 7.
- Enable the video port by pressing the "e" button to the left of the power button in the upper right hand side of the computer. Click Acer ePresentation, then XGA. Close both windows.
- Adjust the projected image by moving the projector away from the screen to make it larger, towards the screen to make it smaller, and rotate it to fix oblong images (keystoning.) Focus is controlled by the scroll on the lens.
VERY IMPORTANT POWER DOWN INSTRUCTIONS!!
To power down the projector, press the power button twice. LEAVE THE PROJECTOR PLUGGED IN UNTIL THE FAN STOPS! Once the fan has stopped, it is safe to disassemble. Please leave all 3 connectors (monitor, sound and remote control) on top of the cart and return to the computer lab.
