               ABOUT MS.  COHEN

I am a mother, a teacher, a friend.  I have a son, Brad attending his third year at UNH studying International Business and a daughter, Allie, my daughter is a Senior at Exeter High School. My best friend Ken and I just bought a new house on a POND~~~  We love the water.

I have been teaching at Ellis School for the past eight years.  I enjoy teaching and watching your children grow and learn through developmentally appropriate play and materials.  I have a masters degree in Intergrating the Arts into the Curriculum and use it daily.  We move our action verbs, we are the hands on the clock, a person, place and thing can also be a portrait, landscape and still life.  Each year my style changes a little but routine is still my priority.  I teach using whole group, learning centers, small group and individual instruction.  I like to say I teach  the "love of learning".

I use the PBIS philosophy in the classroom and model proactive positive behavior.  Children demonstrate responsible, respectful behavior as well as being prepared.

                       STarting   september

Monday- Everday Math Home Links and reading

Tuesday-  Everday Math Home Links or phonics activity

Wednesday- Everyday Math Link and/or computer games

Thursday-  Everyday Math Home Links or phonics activity

Friday-  Review finished and unfinished work in folder

We sent new Agenda Books home on September 4.  Please check to make sure that the homeowrk is written in it each night.  This is to help the children be more prepared and responsible for their own work.  There will be times that I will ask you to write how many minutes the assignment took.  That is for my records so that I can be sure each child is working to their potential.  This book should be coming back to school each day in their homework folder-- I may start putting their homework in the agenda book itself -- I will just be a new routine to learn-- we will take it slow.

Homework should last approximately 15-30 minutes each night.  Answer key is sent home ahead of time so that you can help your son or daughter as part of the family newletter.  The links are games that reinforce the unit taught-- review these often  to help review.
