Spelling Homework
In their spelling packets students are assigned to write 2 sents. with two of the week's words per sent. instead of dictated sents.I expect dictionary use but if the dictionary does not have a word then one may look it up on the internet. refdesk.com is one site. Always have a parent supervise. Thanks!
Reading Homework
Students should be reading 15 minutes every evening Monday-Friday. Weekends too. They need to complete three reader response journals a week in class. They should always have a chapter book that is a "just right" book. In Reader's Workshop I will check with each student to have them read a page aloud with me to see that thye follow the five finger rule. I check to see if there are less than five words they don't know per page.
Math Homework
As often as possible students should be memorizing the multiplication times tables 0-12 and division facts 0-12.
