Jamie Bolduc- Music, Band, Drama

Meet your Teacher:

My name is Jamie Bolduc. I attended Plymouth State University where I received my Bachelors of Science in Music Education in 2002. I began teaching at Hillsboro-Deering Elementary School and then continued at Prospect Mountain High School. In 2006, I chose to attain my Masters of Music in Music Education and attended Gordon College where I graduated in 2009. I have a young daughter and loving husband, as well as two cats at home here in Fremont. I attained my second Masters of Arts in Theatre through Regent University in May 2017. During my training as an educator, I was trained as a vocalist, but I do play all classroom and concert band instruments at a level appropriate to teach. I love teaching band and choir, but I really love the fun we have in General Music because I get to see all of the students learning and loving music. I have been a member of the Ellis Staff since 2017 and I have found my home. I look forward to many years ahead in making beautiful music with our learners.

My Elementary Music Philosophy:

30 year plan. I follow a Feierabend Approach in the Elementary classes. The idea is to help learners to understand how to be tuneful, beatful and artful for years to come. I hope that when we are done when they are older and begin to sing lullaby's to their children or nieces/nephews they will remember a song from when they were in my class to be able to sing to them, when they dance at their wedding they will be able to follow the beat of the music, and when they hear a song being performed by either a beginner or an advanced performer they will appreciate the time and effort it took that performer to bring that performance to life. 30 years after they have long since left Ellis there will be a part of what we do in class that will come back to them and help them with their life in musical ways.

My Middle School Philosophy:

Continuation of the 30 year plan. I approach my middle schoolers with a more advanced approach to the Feierabend philosophy. Many of us in our teen years or in our early adult years may have said 'let's make a band' or decided to express your emotions through song, the Modern Band curriculum helps students to do just that. They are able to learn different instruments that belong in a Modern Band and are able to connect what they learn to Modern day pieces of music. They may even be able to write their own pieces or recreate a favorite piece of music to perform. Our focus is on guitar, drums, ukulele and piano currently using Soundtrap as our mode of creating.
