Hello!

I am Melissa Simard and am happy to continue to have the opportunity to work with your learners as the K-4 school counselor. I provide support at Ellis for all learners, as needed by the learner, or requested by the teacher/parent to address needs,concerns, and support. I also run regular rotating groups, for peers to connect and practice skills together in a smaller setting. Your learner will have regular classroom lessons that help develop a healthy sense of self and positive peer relations that they will continue to build on. Your learners will begin to learn to develop a growth mindset, express their emotions appropriately, solve social problems, build healthy relationships, and be thoughtful citizens who take responsibility and show respect. Throughout the school year I address many topics included, but not limited to:

• Feelings (Identifying/Expressing)

• Bullying Prevention

• Kindness & Empathy

• Positive Communication & Problem Solving

Interventions provided include: school wide initiatives, classroom lessons, individual check-ins or 1:1 meetings, social skills groups, staff consultation, parent communication, as well as 504 coordination, and so much more!
