Our staff really enjoyed our secret spirit week this week! We dressed up differently every day and did not tell the students what the theme was. Students had so much fun guessing our themes!

Our amazing teachers in Team Good Vibes organized an incredible Immigration Day for their students yesterday. Learners were tasked with engaging in a simulation of the voyage, registration, medical test, and inspection/interview at our own little "Ellis Island." A special thank you to Mrs. Almon and Mrs. Coyle, our beloved retirees, who came in to help with this event!

Students have been learning the complex carbon cycle in seventh grade. They created a model of this cycle that is interactive, visual, and helpful in understanding how carbon moves through the earth systems. During their assessment, students then used the model to help communicate their learning!

One of Miss Booth's most favorite times of year is the Volume Zoo! For this project, students not only research their chosen animal, but they also construct the animal out of items such as cardboard, construction paper, and other craft materials. From there, the challenge doesn't end! The students then have to calculate the entire VOLUME of their creation. Well done, learners!

From Superintendent Stack: Fremont families, thank you for your efforts at home in making today a great first day back at school. It is wonderful to see our building come alive with the sounds of our students engaged in learning after a two-month summer hibernation. I'd like to thank Principal Rosenberg and her staff for their attention to details in so many ways at Ellis School. Thank you also to Mr. Normandin and his facilities staff for getting the building and campus ready for today. Tomorrow, we look forward to our high school students going back to school at Sanborn. Next week, our PreK and Kindergarteners will start. Don't forget --- this first week is a short one with no school on Friday for the long Labor Day weekend. Our entire 24-25 school year calendar can be found on our website, and a direct link to it is here: https://5il.co/2ui1d

Good Afternoon, If you are a parent or guardian of a child at Ellis School, you will receive your username and password information in your email for Alma on August 15th. Once you receive it, we encourage you to log in and explore the new system! For those interested, Mrs. Rosenberg created the following video for you to get an idea of what Alma looks like from the parent's perspective: https://www.loom.com/share/b99a093544154aa7a1a7a2476beb7ea0?sid=ddd864cc-5eec-4254-a010-6219551e68d2 Please note: -If you have a child at Sanborn, you will still need to create a username and password for Ellis because we have separate urls/logins -If you do not receive a login by August 19th, please inform those of us in the Main Office so that we can assist you with this before the first day of school -Alma's mobile app is called AlmaNow. If you prefer to view your child's information from a mobile device, we recommend downloading the app!

Good morning, Graduation Day is finally here and the Ellis School community is looking forward to celebrating our 8th graders this evening! Given this evening’s weather forecast, we have made the decision to move the graduation ceremony indoors to the gymnasium. While we recognize that the weather pattern may change throughout the day, we need to err on the side of caution and finalize this decision early so that our facilities team can begin to set up for the event. Arrival Information + Graduates need to arrive at 5:30. Please have them enter through the middle school entrance on the Beede Hill side of the building. + Doors will open to guests at 5:30pm. Please enter through the gymnasium doors. Parking Information +Parents of graduates, we welcome you to park in the parking spots at the Beede Hill entrance. + We kindly request that the parking spots across from the gymnasium entrance be reserved for attendees with handicapped passes or those with elderly guests. + All other guests are invited to park in front of the building or across the street at the Safety Complex. Guest Information + As a reminder, each student is allowed to bring up to ten guests. While we will not be ticketing for the ceremony, it is important that families abide by this expectation so that we do not exceed occupancy rules. Despite the storm clouds, we are eager to celebrate our outstanding graduates and look forward to seeing you in just a few short hours! Warmly, Ms. Connelly Principal

Ahead of tomorrow's class day picnic and graduation, our 8th graders spent today celebrating at Canobie Lake Park! Thanks to the generosity of the community, these students fundraised enough money at the spring Spaghetti Supper to cover their ticket costs! On top of that, Durham Bus Company generously donated the transportation costs for the bus ride. We are enormously grateful for the kindness bestowed upon these great kids!
